Lewis and Clark
The Camp Dubois Visitor Center, the first site on the National Lewis and Clark Historic Trail, commemorates the launching point of the expedition at the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers. Visitors are immersed in visions of the expedition conjured by President Thomas Jefferson, along with real and imagined features of the West. A full-sized keelboat, split down the center with cargo exposed, invites visitors to explore the objects taken by the Corps of Discovery on their journey. Interactive elements explore daily life, journey preparation, and strategies of Captains Lewis and Clark.
